I too was told by the dealer that I needed all six injectors due to contaminated fuel ($3700.00). Got the truck back, and it runs fine. Just replaceced the fuel filter and a double shot of PS.

If you can do the job yourself, these guys are the go to guys in my area for anything for Bosch fuel systems.

My wife calls me today after bringing my 06 in for the current reflash, n-says they want $4100 to repair due to contaminated fuel. 6 injectors and flush everything. I get there and they show me a tropicana juice with a very small amount of sediment in which they drained from my filter housing. said my fuel system was pluged up and to get with my insursnce co.
My truck runs fine once warm but smokes and runs rough cold.
I have drained more than what they showed me from many a truck as well on my 06. they have only one juice bottle and no way to rinse it from each use nor did they clean the hose out that is open to the wind 24-7.
I think they are nailing dodge and the coust and not doing the work. keep in mind that my dealer has lied to me many times and charged me for an oil change that they did not do. UH yea i'am mad, They think i'am stupid.
Oyea they sad it would cost 1000 bucks to have a lab test the fuel.
Why send it to a lab when theas GOOBERS can just look at it and tell.
If I wasen't so mad I'd be laughing, hope you all can laugh with me soon.

I'm just speechless....
Why do you even go back there for the reflash? Is there no other dealers in your area?
I can't believe the level of dishonesty amongst dealerships I've been hearing here on this forum. I have two dealers close by me, one I wouldn't give a dime of my business to and the other which is a very small dealer actually is very honest and easy to deal with. Believe it or not, my father will drive from Datona FL. up here to NY to have work done on his truck at this perticular dealership rather than go to a local shop.
Must be nice to be retired and have time on your hands.

Wow! I'm amazed at these stories. I'm so grateful my dealer AND D/C didn't try to screw me with my truck. I have to say that with this being my first diesel pick-up, with nothing to compare it to, I'm blown away by how good it runs now since the new injectors and reflash. I can't believe that I drove it nearly 19k miles with it running like crap. It's quick, shifts smoother, the shift points are different, smokes less, and the mpg went up about 2mpg. Before, it idled rough, smoked at start up, shifted way to soon even with a load, didn't down shift like it should, and the mpg sucked. I love it now. Hope it stays this way. pcm

Now what the dealership is saying is that they did not change the fuel filter like I was told...and I have not changed it since. It has 33,000 miles...which means I thought I was 3,000 miles over recommended interval when this happened...but really it had never been changed. The dealer and Chrysler customer service said it would not be covered under warranty. I got my insurance involved and an adjuster went out and got pictures and a sample...but they told him the fuel filter had never been changed...so he says they will clean the tank and fuel system flush but the mechanical failure was due to the filter not being changed..

Ok....fill in the holes for me. You say they "told you the filter was changed". Where's your reciept showing this? The part number and labor time will be right there. Don't have the receipt? Every Dodge store I've been in pretty much uses the same computer system. You can bring up the "history" on the screen and reprint as desired. IF you bought a filter, and were charged accordingly it WILL be on that paperwork. Print out the recall and give it to your adjuster. It addresses in black and white about debris in your tank.

I have an 06, no problems as of yet. How is dirt and debris getting in the fuel tanks? All the fuel pumps I use have filters.

6 years ago the father-in-law had the same thing happen.
A little background, he retired and purched his first diesel. He treated it like a baby, it was taken to the dealer for all the work, and of course every time it was some other little nickle and dime event.

The truck died and it was towed to the dealer, they worked on it charged him 300, adjusted the valves, new fuel filter..... away he went.
A week later it died again, towed to the dealer on Sunday, Monday they called and said to contact you insurance someone put sugar in you tank, he was sick. They wanted 20K for a new engine, I caugh wind of it and remined him that his truck was only 25K new(1997).
When asked how they knew they said that they tasted the fuel. I am not the fuel professional but it is not my drink of choice. I suggested he hire a local testing lab to test the fuel. The insurance agreed and he the insurance and the lab showed up unexpected. The fuel was fine, well within specs.
That day they happen to have the chrysler rep at the dealer and he got involved. After pulling the filter he said that that was the original factory fuel filter, here stands the father-in-law with a handfull of receipts shown the filter had been changed several times. The service manager said that they hold them up to the light and if they can see thru them they put them back in. Apparently the filter plugged and pieces were pushed to the injectors. The dealership, the one that sold it, and the only place that had ever worked on it (SCORE in Middletown Ohio) would not accept responsibility.
The insurance company finally stepped in after 3 months of the truck setting at the dealer and they had it towed to Cummins. The flushed the system and $2,500 later he was good to go.
The insurance took the dealer to small claims to get most of the $ back.

Sorry for the long story.

I am find these stories very interesting. I burn Jet fuel in my truck on a regular basis and it runs fine. I avoid the dealership at all costs.

JerkyMan.... what ever came of the situation? I hate dishonest people. I had a tranny put in a WRX at the dealership and my $250 blow off vlave went missing because they left it outside. However the blow off vlave is bolted to the intercooler and why someone would leave an intercooler outside overnight is beyond me. They at least gave me money to get a new one but its amazing how crooked people can be... and to think the people that could give a s*** less about you are putting your vehicle back together. Makes me wanna, ill stop here before cops show up at my door.

My 2006 truck has a build date of July 2005 making it an early 2006 model. I purchased it from the dealer with 30 miles on the odometer in June of 2006. That means it had sat around for nearly 11 months with minimal fuel in the tank and very few starts and drives to operating temperture, etc. I wonder if all my previous problems weren't related to this??? Again, I'm just thankful that D/C and my dealer didn't try to put my trucks problems off on me. I do my own filter fuel filter changes and keep a log and receipts of the parts. I'm using the updated fuel filter by Fleetguard pn#19859_p from Geno's. This is an approved D/C filter. Good luck to all. pcm
