No, it's a spin on filter. But Glacier Diesel Power has the remote filter kits.

Is this just a 3rd gen thing?

I looked on the Cummins quick serve and this is what is recommended according to them for my engine serial number:

Fuel Filter
Canister Filter:
Cummins part number 3942470
FleetguardŽ/Nelson part number FS1261

Off the Fleetguard site:
This part is obsolete and is replaced by FS19579.

FS19579 is what I buy from Geno's Garage and it is 10 micron.

Is the dealer saying this change is for all CTDs? I'll run the 10 micron until fleetguard puts out a 5 micron.

That's the standard filter I think, the newer premium drop in filter is 7 micron.

Now is that Glacier set up also a water seperator, or just filter? Doesn't seem to say anywhere. I see the set up with seperate canisters, would like the single better though. Looks like that would be death on a stock lift pump.

Berak,

Roger. I will use the 7 micron once my supply of 10 micron is exhausted. I'm just saying that as long as you use the 10 micron or better it won't void your 100K warranty unless Cummins or DC issues an official change to that.

Do they own stock in FASS or Walbro or something? Trying to run a 2 micron and 10 micron filter with the stock lift pump sounds like a recipe for stranding yourself on the side of the road somewhere.

If you are going to upgrade to a 2 micron filter, id get either the Glacier or Fass pump, no way id try it with a stock pump...

When I upgrade the fuel system, ill go with the Glacier kit, and install the fast fill/tank vent at the same time, so I only have to drop the tank once...
Might go with their filter setup too, if they dont come out with a 5 micron for the stock filter location anytime soon...

I hate to bust every ones bubble but the filter that Glacier uses is not listed as a 2micron filter but instead 5 micron. @ 2micron it filters at 92.8% efficiency and then 98.9%@5microns.
Our stock factoy 10micron filters filter at 98.7%@10 microns and 83%@ 5 microns.
As for the Glacier Diesel filter setup. It will flow the required amount of fuel for a stock system through the stock lift pump. As stated by others the pressure drop is minimal along with the volume drop.

I was at the Cummins dealer today and the guy just about came unglued when I asked for a 5 micron fuel filter He not only did not have one but said fleetguard has no intention at this time to make one!!! I say whoa whats the problem, then he pulls out a three page report strait from Cummins which states the 10 micron fleetguard fuel filter is what they recommend and that the ulsd will not harm this motor and if there is any problem with the motor as a result from the ulsd Cummins will stand behind it. After reading that the guy tells me if any dealer tells me different and that they now recommend a 5 micron filter to get them to sign that statement and bring it to him. Boy all this is confusing I just went with what Cummins recommended.

when I went in to have the hard start TSB done to my truck.(about 2 weeks ago) I asked the service guy about biodiesel in my truck, he printed a new service notice off of his computer stating that cummins and DC wanted the trucks to have the 7 micron filter instead of 10.

It also said that 07 can use regular low sulfur diesel until ultra low was more available. I thought it would cause damage to the truck???

As I stated previously Bosch R&D told me that 5 micron to absolute is what is recomended. The 07 trucks right now are the same as the 06 trucks and the fuel out there is fine in them. Its when the MODEL change comes more then likely mid year is when the NEW emmsions equiped trucks will require ULSD fuel.

What do you mean 5 micron to absolute. Do you mean 5 micron absolute.

Absolute means it's abilitie to filter to that rating. Ie a rating of 5 microns absolute would have to be 5microns at 98.9% efficiency or above to be considered absolute, as opossed to 5 microns @ 88% would not be a 5 micron absolute.
Absolute is just the knowledge of what the actual quailty of the rating it has.
The Glacier Diesel filter is a 5 micron Absolute filter with a 2 micron abilitie.
