Dead Pedal - Won't come out of gear

My truck has just started doing this on occasion - I'll go to stop and push in the clutch and the pedal goes dead and acts like the clutch isn't depressed. I can't get it out of gear until I turn off the truck. Once I do that the pedal comes back and all is fine. Everytime it's happened the truck has been in second gear. The truck shifts through the gears just fine otherwise and the pedal feel is the same as normal. I checked my fluids and everthing is good.

Is this a slave cylinder? I have an OFE, do I need to upgrade the hydraulics? I need to get this taken care of because it makes stop signs and parking lots very interesting. Thanks for the help

Slave or master, take your pic. Seems like a pressure issue. Your going to replace one or both, I would do both and in the process go thru the lines looking for defective or dammaged section of plumbing.

the slave cyl. is going bad. if you get it from dodge you will get the whole assembly. master/slave and line complete with fluid in it.

I'm going to order a South Bend upgrade this morning and hopefully the stock ones will last a few more days

That's what I would do. When it's time for a new clutch I will also upgrade the hydraulics.
I believe Haisley Machine also has a HD hydraulic clutch system.

the question for me is do I want to maintain the really nice original factory super light clutch or upgrade to a performance unit so I can do leg presses in traffic?

I was originally very pleased with the function of the stock clutch and still am!
