Dead ecm, help!
I am brand new to this site, and a week too late!
Last Wed I bought a 03 2500 6 speed 82000 miles at a big city dealer and drove it 87 miles then it would not start (had it for only 3 hours). So had it towed to local dealer on Thursday. Diagnosis was dead ecm, caused by a Dyno Source chip (which I did not know about and the dealer did not tell me about).
Long story, but the end result was no warranty, dealer installed new ecm for $1600.
I read all 8 pages of 04ctd problem with his ecm and Bully Dog chip.
Does anyone know where Dyno Source can be contacted?
I am probally to late but I want to try anyway. HELP!!

I tried to have the original dealer fix it or take the pickup back and they said "sorry but you signed a paper that said Sold AS IS."
Can anyone tell me who sells Dyno Source chips or how to get ahold of the manufacturer?

JERKS!
I'd be talking to the Attonery Generals office, BB, and a cheap lawyer that needs work. I'd also protest in front of their business and call the local newspaper and TV stations. They should have know more about the truck before they sold it to you, IMHO.
Most dealer have an as-is sticker on them, but I would expect them to at least be a little reasonable.
Now, on the other hand.....maybe you should have checked the truck a little closer and maybe talked to the previous owner.
Let's see now......have I covered all the angles?

Did they disclose that the ECM had been programmed with Dyno Source? Don't let them tell you that they didn't know. They would have put the DRB on to check it when they took it in for trade and known right there.
If they didn't disclose that information to you, then they committed fraud. If I remember right, that is illegal, and is grounds for voiding the entire purchase contract. I'll bet they pay for your new ECM when you tell them you are considering fraud charges against them.

Thanks for all the input. I did ask the salesman, on our test drive if there was a "chip" in the truck, and he said he did not know.
After the truck quit and I contacted the dealership, (from where I bought the truck), they told me it was the injector pump, which would be covered under the warranty. But then the chip was discovered which fried the ECM and there went the warranty!!
