Cummins grid heater delete info.

I just ordered a Cummins grid heater delete spacer, which they call a connection spacer. Their old pn 3922484 has been updated to pn 5266557 and my cost was $38.00 from a Cummins truck repair shop.

May be a stupid question but why do a grid heater delete?

The pros and cons have been discussed many times by others, just do a quick search. I especially like the info given by carl 48.

John,
Yes, this subject has been battered around, but your conclusion is incorrect. I mean, it's great for the aftermarket business, but there is no value in the change in mileage or increased power. I suggest you do a dyno test before and then after and get back to us, but then the dyno tests will cost more than the mod.

Steve-I appreciate your opinion. I'm going to give it a try, since it doesn't cost very much and where I live it really isn't needed. If on a trip, I should happen to end up in a colder climate, I will use the block heater.

john your truck will start at 20* below zero without the grid or block heater. we run several 06's and have used cummins 3922484, stock gutted and some aftermarket. helps clean up the area but no change in mpg.

Carl- Is there a lot of smoke on a cold weather start? The reason I ask this is because my '98 12v did. I remember starting it at Yellowstone, without using the grid heaters, and there was quite a bit of white smoke for a short time.

the cr does not have near the smoke as the 98 has, in fact until you get down near freezing you are not going to see any.
