Cummins with a Flowmaster?

I know Flowmaster makes great stuff for gassers, but has anyone ever run a Cummins with a Flowmaster? I don't want the noise of a straight pipe, but wouldn't mind a little more that stock... My local exhaust shop guy is running a special on Flowmasters this week, and I can get a single inlet/dual outlet Flowmaster system installed for an eeek over $300. Just wondering if anyone has any input on what it may sound like compared to some of the others out there (Banks, Nelson, etc.).

Got one on my '03 as we speak. Louder than stock, drone is zero, and sounds good on a long trip without wearing out the ears. Sounds particularly good when I drop the hammer on the truck, too. Plus the inlet/outlet configuration worked perfectly with the rest of the OE exhaust system (same configuration as the OE muffler inlet/outlet). I'm very pleased with the setup personally. PM me with email address and I'll send you some pics if interested.

I got a Silverline 4 inch dual system which is a division of ANSA. It is loud at takeoff and very mello on the highway. Check out my gallery.

For a Diesel...

Straight Pipe it and Put in a "Straight - Thru" Muffler....

Should be best for EGTs

I had been told that GASSER mufflers and DIESEL mufflers really wern't the same and NOT good to run a gasser muffler on a diesel.Back pressure/chambers etc. Also have been told by SEVERAL diesel performance shops NOT to use gasser flomasters! In fact several said they didn't use or like flomasters period in gas or diesel.Said DYNO numbers were the proof in the pudding and Flomasters didn't put the numbers up were other mufflers did.Was told only STRAIGHT through designs for diesel applications.

I called the exhaust shop where I had it done (misplaced my invoice) and they told me it was # 53559, although I couldn't find it on Flowmaster's website.

Had one on my 96 for about a year, and the thing got so full of soot that it would spit big chunks out and it would stick to my wall!Pulled it off and cut it open man it was toast.I would not run one again even if it was free, but I might run it on a gasser!Just my $.02

flowmaster

Flowmaster has a line of diesel mufflers. It is on their website with a short sound clip.I don't have one myself.I installed a magnaflow diesel muffler. It is the long one that they offer. While it is louder than stock and alot deeper sounding it is still a bit quiet with no drone at all.

I had a Flowmaster on my gasser and beat it to a pulp 2 weeks into running it, it dronned the hell out the truck. I'm straight piping my 03 CTD after hearing several others with a straight pipe it seams as if the turbo really calms them down over a gasser
