Crank case blow buy ?
I have a huge amount of blow buy coming out of the ventalation tube,I am assuming this is the rings? Could it be any thing else? It has been doing this for 4000 + miles,Now it is smoking bad at Idle,no smoke on the fwy.
Also can someone Recommend a shop in northern california.

Fill in your sig so we can see what you have done to your truck.
It's a bit new to be doing that.

My truck does the same thing, I hear its common to the 24V engines. What happens is in the vacuum pump blows its main seal and vents into the crankcase and causes a lot more blow-by than normal.

check the oil, is it overfull? does it ever seem to gain volume? I lost a seal in my injector pump the was dumping diesel into the crank case and causing serious blowby, just something to consider.

Where in Northern CA.? in Sacto, there is Imler Diesel doing very good work , another in Redding I think it is called J&H , I have heard good things about them also. not exactly sure that is what it is called.

That would be an issue, IF we had vacuum pumps.

My truck is doing the same thing at 30,000 miles. It's at the dealer now getting a ring job. The oil level never rose, just dropped slightly. The only thing they said they found wrong was what they considered to be an extremely high idle time and excessive crankcase blow-by pressure. I was getting black oil all over my travel trailer everytime I took it out. The underside of the truck was wet with oil all the way back. It started to smoke (white/blue) before I took it in. Sometimes I had oil dripping out of the muffler weep hole. I am extremely dissappointed with having such major engine work being done on this truck so early. I may end up trading in the truck over it. The truck was really getting good mileage and had lots of power. I have no idea what happened. If you measure the pressure coming out of the breather tube with a manometer, anything over 12" water column is excessive.

do not baby a new engine. get it up to temprature, and run it hard [with load, or on chassis dyno, or drive it like you stole it for a few days]
