crank breather question

truck is 2004.5 with auto. has 114k on it. the other day i thought i had a leaking valve cover gasket that started since last oil change. upon further review, i found oil around the base of the breather on top of the valve cover that i didnt know was there until i pulled the decorative cover off the v/c. the breatheris made by fleetguard and called enviroguard. it has an assy #3957987. it lists for 91.00 at dealer. i hosed everything down with brake clean to see exactly where it was coming from.looks like the o-ring on the bottom of the breather where it goes into the v/c. i drove it for an hour yesterday and it wasnt leaking at all!!? i wander if the breather is ok or if it just spits oil when i pull heavy loads? either way i want it right and not have an issue down the road. the reason i question the breather function is i wander if its not functioning properly and building too much crankcase pressure causeing the o-ring to fail?

check to see if the breather hose is pinched or plugged...

its not. have driven almost 2oo miles and not a drop of oil coming from it. all miles empty. thats why i wander if its not breathing properly and only pukes when under heavy load/hi boost situations.
