Just got back from dealer this evening. Awesome service...replaced CP3 again!!! That makes "4". The plastic plug in front did let go this time, but the Dealer robbed a new ride to get me going. That is **** good service!!!!
ANYWAY..... this pump looks way different from the others!! It is a different color and there is no name plate on it??? The ID numbers are lazar etched into the pump. I mean its's still a CP3 but I'm wondering if this one is from a different manufactor???
Also I am NOT going to put the VA3.1 pressure box back on this truck. It might not be the culprit butt I know they aren't going to keep replacing these pumps. The VA3.1 is for sale!!

Glad to hear you got her back.

Rich and/or Saw, could you feel a diff in the trucks performance with the leaking cp3, or if you had not looked under the truck would you ever have known?

I am pretty sure mine is leakin but mainly just weapin so I am on too concerned but was wondering if there were any other signs to look for.

Never knew it was leaking, just can't stand the thought of it not being RIGHT.
No performance issues at all.

I can't really say I felt a power difference when the pump was leaking but after the rebuild I could tell a difference in power.mine dripped a few drops on the ground thats how I noticed the leak.

Sawboywv1, I just got my pump replaced a few weeks ago because of the leak. I didn't pay attention to the name plate thing, but I did notice a different color though. It's like a goldish/bronze anodized color.
BTW, never had a pressure box on mine.

Is there a part number on the warranty invoice? Curious if it starts with a 'R"

on the rear bottom side and drips down onto the wiring harness below the pump and if the leak gets bad enough it drips off the wiring harness onto the ground.

I just went through the same scene with the leaking pump again. This is number 3 in 48000 miles. The last pump only made it for 11,000 miles. But like the rest mentioned here the pump is different in color and I don't see the number plate. The part number on the invoice R5143425-AA is different than last years pump. I hope this one lasts. I must say though the dealer didn't charge me the 100 dollar deductible this time and the service has greatly improved.

Please don't pay the $100 deductable. The warranty on the Cummins engine is 5 years 100K no deductable, 7 years 100k $100 deductable. The pumps including the lift pump are "Engine parts" even by DC defination. Many are being stiffed for the $100 which is pure profit for the dealer. At least that is what my 04.5 is, I even read over the service writers shoulder when they last tried to charge the $100 and saw in their warranty manual 60 months under 100K no deductable, 84 months under 100K $100 deductable. He tried to point out the 84 month but I pointed out the 60 month to him then proceded to call DC who also told him the same. Even his service adviser agreed but he was the Service manager and he was right, but I left without paying.

The R is for REMAN.Thats why there anodized and numbers/plate on them is differant.Price on them should drop a lot now. There is NO $100 deduct on the Engine/fuel system.Only on POWERTRAIN which is differant.
