A couple things A/C & Exhaust Problems
After a month of owning this truck I've been very happy with it but I cant seem to understand that out of the blue I drove my truck home yesterday and I had the windows down but once I hit the highway I put them up and turned on the A/C. Its blew a little bit colder but that was just it, never got really cold, just barely noticeable above the air when non-A/C was on.
Started the truck this morning and all the way into town it seems to be semi normal, not as cold but definitely alot colder. Then on the way back home it seemed to go back to the warmer air. And then this afternoon, it was just warm air no cooling at all.
I took it to a mechanic I know and he thought maybe to just top the coolant up but he thought it may be control problems with it coming and going. Just wondering if anyones had something familar to this, I'm hoping the coolant just needs to be topped up as when I hit the A/C button I can definitely hear it click on and the compressor starts working it seems.
And then my only other concern and it may be nothing at all, but is a slight haze that'll come out of my exhaust whenever I give I just touch the gas pedal at first.
For instance on startup no smoke comes out, but once I put it into drive and touch the gas to just move forward I'll see a small bit of smoke or faint haze come out, but it'll only last for a brief second but it'll keep doing that whenever I touch the gas pedal. I also see it alot more on sunny days but I'm just wondering from doing alot of searching would be be something like a sticky injector? Theres 100000 miles on it.

The same exact thing had been occuring with my air conditioner a few weeks ago. I would have the air on in the morning, when the outside temperatures were cooler ;however, once the temps rose to the mid 80s the air would not cool much at all. I also noticed that there was ice forming on one of the air conditioner components under the hood (condenser maybe). You may want to see if you notice this also. I figured that it was low on refridgerant since this has happened to my other truck a few years ago. I took it to my local shop and the mechanic suggested that it was a 1/2 lb. low, and $40 dollars later I was on my way. The air works so well, I can store meat inside the cab.
As far as your other issue, I cannot offer my advice as to what may be occuring. I am sure that someone else familiar with it will chime in.

Thanks alot. My original thought was it was low as nothings really changed since it worked well. I've got an appointment tomorrow morning to get it looked at and most likely fixed at a rad/ac place.
I've been searching alot more on the slight haze in the exhaust on the forums. And it seems like it may just be the lighting as on sunny days the light hits the haze to see it easiler.

Turns out that its my fan clutch. Its not kicking in when the A/C needs it too. So the A/C shop quote me $1000 to replace the fan clutch, clean the rad as it was built up with alot of bugs. The fan clutch was $455 though.
Said no thanks, I'm probably just gonna look for a new one hopefully cheaper from somewhere else then a dealer part. I should have no problem replacing it myself, then that'll most likely solve my A/C problems
Now I need to get one or two u-joints also replaced as theres a good click now when changing from P-Rev-Drive. And back and forth. U-joint are cheap though and will be better to get greasable ones in there.

Yeah ! I would have said no thanks to that as well. Have you thought about getting it through a local parts place like NAPA?
I have noticed a slight clunking from the drivetrain in my 03 and suspect that the u joints are in need of replacement. The gaskets that seal the front doors are torn as well and the transfer case seal is leaking also. Looks like a trip to the dealer is in order for me so I can use the extended warranty. I hope that the door gaskets are covered.

Yep I just was under the truck and had it in neutral(blocked of course) Anyways found the cuprit, the middle u-joint inbetween the two piece driveshaft has like 1/8-1/4" of play in one of the end so I'm guessing thats all thats wrong with it.
I called our local parts company that is normally pretty good but they didnt have it listed I'm pretty sure. I'm sure I'll find the fan clutch somewhere. I'm at school right now so I'll probably just get a good shop I know of to just fix the ujoint, and see what they say about the fan clutch aswell. If they're high too, I'll just do it myself, I dont have tools here to fix the ujoint though which I want done before I drive a couple hundred miles home next weekend.
