Cooling system drain/flush?
My truck has 60K miles on it and I'm getting ready for a 6 week camping trip where I will pull a 25' trailer about 6,000 miles to the western states. While I've never had an overheating problem, should I consider draining & flushing the cooling system just as a preventive maintenance matter? The cooling fluid looks OK but I can't tell if the anti-corrision chemicals are still OK.

dont worry about it. your coolant is extended life, good for 5 years and 150k miles(i think) plenty of life left.
however mine drained and flushed itself when i blew a freeze plug all over the little car behind me.

Dodgezilla... You must have selected the auto coolant drain option when you ordered your truck. Ha Ha Did the dealer tell you he could deprogram that option for a fee??

Some of the guys in our N. Texas DTR club (2nd genners) started doing a
'drain and fill' once a year with their trucks. They don't flush. They just drain the radiator and refill it with coolant/distilled water.
So I started doing this too. Now I drain and refill every 20k miles at my self-imposed maintenance interval...........along with tranny, tranny filter, transfer case, diffs, 2 micron fuel filter. Mine drains almost 5 gallons out....so I put 2.5 gallons of Zerez G-05 and 2.5 gallons of Distilled water back in. It doesn't get it all out, but it keeps almost new stuff in it all the time. Personally, I believe it is good to change it out often just to keep new additives in the mix all the time. Anyway after 40 or 60k miles (2 or 3 changes), my coolant mix should be new or new like without actually doing a "flush".
