cooler temps causing funny engine idle

Noticed the other morning for the first time (temps in mid 40's) when I first started my truck, the engine seemed to have a small surge as it idled.

It was not a surge of increased power, but more a fraction of a second of decreased power. (Similar to an airconditioner compressor kicking in and drawing the engine down momentarily)

Compressor was not on, but it had a rythem to it, every 10 seconds or so, for a split second, the decreased power surge could be felt and heard.

Any ideas if this is normal or not? After it warmed up, it ran like it always did.

Thanks,
Rick

Mine does it too for a short period of time and always runs fine. Must be normal.

Mine did it too this morning. 36* F. It is the grid heater cycling, and nothing to be concerned about. FWIW, this truck heats up ALOT faster than my Powerstroke did.

As soon as the needle moves off the pin it stops...with the new high idle installed it will stop faster
