That is the same metal tube I had to cut and modify so my S475 would fit properly.. I do not have that hose any longer..

Glad you found a resolution..

It's been quite a while since I originally started this thread, but just realized that I never posted up with the final resolution.

I was gearing up to replace the water pump myself, but then realized that my truck was still within the 7yr/100k engine warranty ($100 deductible). I had forgotten about the engine warranty, and how it extends longer than the bumper-to-bumper or powertrain warranties.

Anyway, the 7 year warranty had literally just ran out a couple days prior to when I called the local dealer to make an appointment. I asked if they'd help me out and make an exception, since I had just barely exceeded the 7yr mark. The dealer wasn't able to help - they said the decision would have to be made by the corporate office.

Well I called up corporate's customer service, and I made my case - and I'm very happy to report that they were willing to make an exception for me. I wasnt really expecting them to decide in my favor, but figured it was worth a shot.

+1 for Dodge Trucks / Chrysler

Did you end up having to pay the $100 deductible for a $40 water pump?

Yes I paid the $100 deductible. For the new water pump, replacement coolant, and labor associated with those items - I was more than happy to shell out $100.

I had a similar result. I had the dealer replace the WP to the tune of $600. I was a month over the 7 yrs but still under the 70K. I pleaded my case to the dealer to cover it but they couldn't/wouldn't do it. So, I contacted Chrysler. It took a couple of tries to get a response, but finally I got someone who researched me and discovered I had bought 5 Chrysler vehicles over the past years. They told me they would cover it and I had a check in hand for $500 (still had to pay the deductible) in about 3 days.
