Convert to Dually??

How hard/costly would it be to convert a quad cab short bed, to a regular long bed dually? I know it might sound stupid, but I need/want a dually, but I already have too much money into my truck, and love it, and have had no problems whatsoever with it, so I don't really want to get rid of it or have to deal with the hastle of trying to find another one. Just figured if it wouldn't be too costly or hard to do it might be worth it. I figured it would be about like doing a megacab long bed conversion, which I know a bunch of people have done. Plus I already know where a silver dually bed will be coming up soon that I could get for almost nothing, so that saves me alot right there. I dono, just pitching the idea out there. Let me hear yalls thoughts. Thanks

I would make it a short bed dually as you already have a short box on it.You would need a box off a mega cab dually, that way you would not have to extend the frame rails.I believe arrowcraft sells the front and rear wheel dually adaptors I think around $800 plus the box maybe $1000-$1500 and wheels and tires another $1200-$1500.So maybe around $4000 if you can find a box that color matches your truck.I dont know if the box mounts are the same on the two boxes either so some fab work may be needed as well. And if you have to have a long bed the price will only go up.Frame work, drive shaft, brake lines, fuel lines, exhaust etc.You could change out the rear axel and not use adaptors on the rear but that would be more expensive.

Ya I knew it was gonna b quite a project. I already have wheels and tires so that would save some too. I thought about the megacab dually bed, but I dono how that's gonna look with just a regular quad cab. Has anyone else done that and have pics? Plus like I said if I go with a longbed, I'll have a bed already that is the same color as my truck because my brother in law is about to get a flatbed on his 06 and I can get his old bed pretty much free. So if I do a long bed, all I'll have to pay for is frame, driveshaft and brakelines

IMO, make it a short bed dually or sell it and buy a dually.
Don't need a new box. Mega cab dually fenders are bolt on.
Make the first QC/SB dually!

I dunno....just sayin'..........she could probably whip him! (in a towing contest).
My Mega is actually my wifes. (I drive a F150.....but it's free!)
I love it when people look at her and say "holy carp, that's your truck?"
Then they hop in and she drops it into 2nd and rolls some coal! (None of her friends can even drive a stick, much less one hooked to a 400+hp diesel in a 22' long wrapper!)

Confession:

My wife has 'stolen' every truck since 1998. The kids became old enough to not need car seats so the old Bonneville went to me since I was miling it up for work and she got the truck. It started a trend and now she's got the Dodge too.

I get a lousy 04, 5 speed Mustang GT convertible to drive.

Not the first! I got these pics from a guy on here or another Cummins forum. I think I would've went with dually front wheels though. Very unique though. Maybe the guy is still on here.

Did he just swap the rear axle? Looks good either way.

Wow, sure looks easy to get that trailer into the cab of that truck. Not sure you could make any kind of sharp turn without sliding the hitch back.
