Cold Start

Cold Start
My truck will not start when it gets around 44 F or below, but if i plug it up to the block heater it will crank up just fine, after I get it cranked I can kill it and it will crank up again no problem. I talked with a local injector shop here in town and he said without a doubt it was the injectors so i took all them out and sent them off to be rebuild. Well I got a call yesterday saying they are good they tested just like new ones. I am left scratching my head. I cannot figure out what could be wrong with it. I checked the grid heater today while I have the intake off, it got hot yep burnt my hand! Would the small heater in the fuel filter housing have anything to do with this?? I haven't checked that yet, the service manual says this is to keep the fuel from jelling, but what temp does diesel jell at? What else could this be? The only other option is the fuel system.

I don't know what is causing the no start problem. Maybe ECM related, or sensors, or both, I know, not much help.
It definetly is not injectors or fuel gelling, that I do know. Truck should start without grid heaters down to zero degrees.

I get a p 0236 code and and battery temp code??? can't remember if the number's are correct but I did a research on the p0236 code and it came back to the map sensor!!??? I am at a loss. I have my truck plugged in all the time now, even at work?? Any help??

Could this be that deal with the fan clutch wire hitting the fan and getting cut? I believe that this has caused a no-start condition, but I don't know if it is temperature dependent. Someone will elaborate if this could be a possible cause.. any takers?

Cold Start
I'm having the same problems; started without being plugged in until about 32degrees F, then it won't start at all. If I plug it in for 15 min, it fires right up. Dealership said bad injectors ($300 to check which one, $800 to replace any bad ones and $150 to replace). Didn't do that one! Went to my local Diesel guy. He says no problems with injectors, found the grid heater sensor in the head was bad and replaced that. Grid heaters now work, but it still has the same cold start problem, just a lower temp now. It won't start if temps drop down to 10 degrees F. If I plug it in for 15 min, if fires righ up. Its like there's a temperature related fuel delivery problem, which doesn't make sense to the mechanic. Truck is out of warranty with 108,500 miles on it. Original lift pump, but mechanic measured pump output (psi and volume/10 sec) and specs are good. What on earth is the matter?
