Clutch/Trans "Rattle"?

Clutch/Trans "Rattle"?
Hello to all! I'm new to this site. Hope this post comes out ok..
Has anyone else had this problem? HO, 6spd. When idling in neutral with foot off clutch, it makes a "rattling/chattering" noise. When push in clutch, noise goes away. Truck shifts and pulls great- just makes this noise- sometimes you can hear it over the engine noise. It does not do it when running it for first few miles. Some tranny people say that this is "normal". They say this is a heavy duty "Loud" tranny. I can't determine if the noise is coming from clutch or tranny? I'm scheduled to carry it in to the dealer this week. I had rather not touch it, but want to take advantage of warranty if this is a real problem. I've been told that clutch is only covered for 12months or 12K miles, but Tranny is 7/70...
Any comments?
Thanks

Yeah mine is slighty noisy too, but not enough that it bothers me. Like mentioned above, there is a TSB which involves replacing the clutch disc with an updated part. Good Luck!

this is the same disc they have used for years. you just couldn't hear it rattle before they hushed up the engines! what you are hearing is the springs in the disc rattle until the disc warms up. mine was built after the date and is supposed to have the "UPDATED DISC" guess what.......... it rattles sometimes until warm. my advice would be leave it alone. a clutch job on a new truck by the dealer? i don't think so!

Exactly my thoughts....it will probably wind up worse than it already is.

Re:Clutch/Trans "Rattle"?
Well, I carried my truck to the dealer concerning the “Clutch Rattle issue”- TSB 06-001-03. The service manager agreed that this was my problem. They have ordered the new part and are scheduled to install it this week. I remembered reading on this site that some people have had this TSB performed (Clutch Disc) replaced with “revised” one. And guys saying that this TSB did not fix the rattle. I then call the Dodge customer assistance hotline 18009921997 to try and talk to a “tech” person on this issue. She would not let me talk to them, but did put me on hold and she supposedly talked to them and they said that "this revised Clutch disc will dampen the noise until they come out with another revised clutch disc"? Anybody heard/know anything about all this? I called my service manager on all this, he is supposed to call and find out more details. My thinking is: Why not just wait until they come up with a clutch disc that will for sure fix it?? I really don’t want the dealer messing with it anyway!
