Clutch Question

I've still got my stock clutch, running smarty POD on Sw 7, at 85 percent. For awhile it got to where it would slip real bad pullin a trailer in 5th and 6th. Then it got to where I could slip it driving empty real easy. Now, the weirdest thing is goin on. Now, its hard to slip it at all, even pullin 10k, but instead, if I lug it in 5th or 6th, theres a weird sound that comes from the clutch, almost like pressure building up,and then the clutch is so stiff, I can't even push it in and it won't disengage. Then I just pump it about 5 or 6 times and its back to normal.... Its really weird. Anyone else ever had this problem? I'll be gettin a Haisley DD or a SBC 3250 DD this summer. I'm just trying to figure out what's goin on with this one

Maybe you're getting down to the rivets and its keeping the clutch hotter than normal? I'd bet its due time bud!

It sounds like you're welding the clutch together to me. You have to pump it to break it apart.

Mine did this...New clutch at 35,000 miles. Went with a single disk SB.

Thanks for the responses guys. I figured its about done. I just try to take it easy on it when I can. Like I said, its fine unless I lug it real bad in 5th or 6th. I'll just have to baby it until this summer when I can afford to buy a new one

I've had my peddle just about impossible to push in intermittently. It has also gone from slipping on a 70HP tune, to being grabby. Every time the peddle was hard was after it was parked a few minutes and the truck was driven easy. Also at times the peddle has a notchy feel. At other times it's hard to get a smooth shift, slight grind, like the clutch is dragging a little. Cluch has never been abused. Clutches usually last me a very long time. I hate my duel mass clutch.
