Clutch Pedel acting Strange

Has anyone experienced problem with the hydraulic clutch system?

Have noticed the last few days that at time when setting in traffic, if I hold the clutch down for some time it seems like it leaks off. When you go to releaseit, it engages as soon as you start to easy up on the pedal "BAM" your moving. The next time it acts normal, no sign of fluid loss checked it is full.

Also the wife complains that last week when she got in the truck to move it she could not get in to any gear with the pedal fully depressed. Earlier today it did to me what it did to the wife could not get in reverse. Pumped the pedal a couple times and it went into gear...

Anyone experienced this?

No; but it sounds like the master cylinder is going south. I'd get it looked at before your wife has an accident with it.

Have you checked the fluid level?

I 2nd the fluid level, while checking make sure the gasket on the reservoir up against the firewall isn't leaking, mine had about 1/4 inch of gasket sticking out and it was saturated with clutch fluid, and I had to fill it up every month till I got around to fixing

My Clutch pedal has about 1" of play and squeeks when the clutch is fully depressed. Fluid level is fine. This occurred all of a sudden. Clutch used to be tight - with no play. Took it to the dealer. They said it is normal.. Overheard one of the mechanics at the dealer talking to someone, "should we tell him that it is just normal" Anyways, got the documentation now if it breaks.

Take it to a different dealership and see what they say, if they say somethings wrong report the first to DC.

I second that motion.

I have driven one for about 120 miles with no clutch (although 100 of it was hwy).

Its possible, but not fun and particularly abusive to the trans and clutch plate to get the truck moving.

Guys the 3rd gen Master and Slave unit is JUNK.

There have been many failures with even stock clutches.

The best way is to retrofit to a 94-97 unit. The older unit is much better and will not bust and cause the conditions you guys are seeing.

I had one master cylinder bust and replaced it with the 12V unit.
No problems since and I have 3850 pound plate load.

slave cylinder. My 2003's went out in heavy traffic and I almost rear ended someone. I would get it looked at.
