Cleaning The Cummins?
#2
Yes I do it, I don't assume that it is neccesary but I feel a clean engine is a happy engine. the best way would be to just use dish soap and low pressure water sucha as a garden hose and the spray nozzle. I would try to keep the water out of the intake and its not recommended to spray cold water on hot parts but as long as they aren't glowing red I don't think you will hurt anything to much. Have fun it your baby

Do a search on that issue, I read many differing views on this and even noted that guys with a lot of experience won't even look at a clean one when buying. Possibly some real issues when you clean them if you are not real careful.
Just a heads up on some of the stuff I read

If you take the time to get the engine compartment really clean you can then spray everything with armor-all. After that, just use a high pressure air hose to blow off the engine compartment. IMO, this helps keep the rubber & plastic parts in good shape too.

This question gets back to the age old question "why do the fireman wash the truck every time they use it?" Because a clean vehicle is a dependable, efficient vehicle. I always used the pressure washer on my powerchoke and on my cummins to. Never any issues.

no no no no, firehouses round here pretty much have a few kegerators, and if your washing the truck, off duty, the taps are always tippin back and forth..... and as for the armorall use, heck no, I have never seen a product attract so much dust in my life! I think I would try Pledge before armorall....... I have in the past used a two part cleaner / shine for engines. Two seperate cans one ya spray on a warm motor, then hose off, then there was a second can to give it a nice shiny look. can't find that product anymore tho, pep boys used to cary it but no more it seems ???
