Chrome steel wheel valve stems
A friend has an 04 3500 with steel wheels and has had at least 2 valve stems go on his truck.
He says they have a metal valve stem that attaches to the wheel with what looks like a rubber grommet which is where the leaks come from. He's still running the tires it came with, anyone know anything about this?
I did a seach, all I found was:

My valve stems just started leaking, no warning. I drove from san antonio to laredo, when i got there ,one tire was low, I went to air it up and found the stem leaking, so i then checked the other <3> they to were leaking. I had all four replaced. they looked like a regular stem , not the one with the nut and seal. As I stated then you need to check the stems, as I only had about 4/5k miles. I was lucky they <stems> didn't blow out going down the highway 75 or so MPH. as it was very possible. I posted the thread then to try and help someone avoid a serious problem . as of today 6-12-06 istill say to check the stems THANKS; Grant
