Re:Check those alternator brackets boys!

I think my truck was built in March, 2003 and the bracket looks like cast iron to me. Now, I don't wash my engine like UncleFlaBob and Sierra do, but it looks pretty clean anyway.

Here is a pic of my pretty little bracket.

Cast is OK as I understand it.

Billy

Mine has the older style bracket; built in early February. I have looked at it four times now, but still can find no cracks. Maybe my guardian angel is working overtime again? Still, does anyone think D-C will replace it without the cracks being visible under the warranty and TSB?

Billy,

What is all that duck tape and pink stuff. I know - - you hid your wife's panties under the hood and held them there with duck tape. Cool, man. You are a man after my heart.

Well, I have the hairline crack starting at one end (just barely there like a rusty hair line under the clear coating on the bracket).
I just took mine to the dealer and they said they won't order the part to replace it because it's not making the noise.
They also said it has to be cracked, but they don't consider the hairline crack starting at one corner anything to worry about.
GREAT > What shall we do

Believe me when I say that's exactly what I felt like doing > > (hitting the guy on the head)
I gave him a copy of the TSB and the idiot was trying to explain to me that TSB's are not recalls, welll dah :P :P I know it's not a recall, but you don't have to wait until something breaks to fix it either
I'll try them again another day this week, may be somebody else will help me. Otherwise I'll be taking it to another dealer.
This one was just close to work and would have made it easy dropping it off.
Man what a bunch of jokers :

Dodge from having to toe it in when I'm out halfway tween Lakeview, OR and Winnemucca, NV, and in addition to the bracket, a new radiator when that alternater thrashes around on a rough road at 75 mph. Save your time trying to explain to D-C why it wasn't fixed when I requested replacement and you had an opportunity. Save my time being stuck in the boonies waitin for a D-C tow, then waitin for Butch Cassidy to come ridin in to deliver needed parts several days later.

If he don't come across with a fix for the bracket, he's a dead-head, probably hit in the head with tire iron by previous customer.
Hey Bobo,

You don't have that pink stuff under your hood? Maybe you washed it off when cleaning the engine, but then my truck is a few months newer so it could be an upgrade? Keen eye you have old boy . I keep the panties under the front seat :-X.
