Check those alternator brackets boys!
Just read a posting on another Dodge site and there is a tsb for some of the alternator brackets on engines built before this serial number #57013271 this number is located on the driver side of the valve cover. The bracket will show a couple of hairline cracks at the bend of the bracket as mine did. only noticed because the rust. The new bracket in part number 05086742ab. Lets see who else has the cracks ???

ON edit: a 20 minute job? Heck, it takes that long to talk to get the truck in the que.
Does this TSB sound like it may apply to more CTD's than the 03's?

Yep, both sides over 1/2" long each. Look like the thing is ready to break right off! I immediately called my service dept to get a call on the log and make an appointment to change the bracket. The service dept had no data on hand and are checking right now. I have over 14,500 miles on the truck right now. Thanks for the heads up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Serial #67013271 is the number in the TSB dated Apr 4, 2003. Engines ETC and ETH built prior to Feb 13, 2003.
My ser # starts 5695****, checked mine and there appear to be hairline cracks at the bends. It is hard to tell as the bracket is coated or painted metallic gray. :'(
I have 13,300 miles on mine.

Re:Check those alternator brackets boys!
The TSB located at the link provided says it applies to engine serial numbers prior to 67013271 vice the 57013271 stated in this post. Anyone know which is correct?
