cheap quick oil analysis

Hey guys I was at a Petro truck stop in the shop having some work done when I noticed they had a sign up that said they do oil analysis on site. I asked about it and they said it was $10 to run a sample and you get the results right then and there. That's way better than blackstone labs or amsoil. So if you've got a petro nearby and want quick oil analysis and results it might be something worth trying out.

Interesting.

Did they say if they were doing it at all their stations, or just the one you went in to? Has anyone used this service and know exactly what the report looks like. Dieseljunky, you may need to be the test case and check it out. Good info, thanks!

Well I wasn't in my Ram and unfortunately don't have a Petro close by to my house. This was at the Carlisle, PA Petro. If you've got one nearby go to their oil change shop and ask about it snoyes. I'd be willing to bet they offer this service at all locations. They've got the oil analyser right behind the service desk at Carlisle.

05mxdiesel Lower price doesn't necessarily mean inferior product or service. A person with a track record and history of oil analysis at blackstone or amsoil could easily go to a petro and run a sample to see how it compares to their history. That would be the only sure way to make a good decision about whether Petro is on the up and up, or not. I've never done an analysis so I don't have that history to check a petro analyisis by. Maybe someone on here does and would be willing to try it out and report back... Just thought I'd pass the info along that's a great price...

That is a great idea, see if Blackstone and the Petro give you the same information on the oil analysis. I'd be interested to see if someone is able to do this...

I'm on the road driving past petro's all the time. When I get back in I could get a sample this weekend and get it tested next week. I don't have a history of UOA's to compare with but at least we will know if their test is extensive as blackstone's...
