Changed High P pump same problem
#61
I did ask the dealere to cap the rail. He said he thought he had a cap for it. He is a well respected dodge mechanic. But, he has had the truck a week and has not diagnosed it. The service writer told me they had only billed me an hour so far. I appreciate everyones input on my problem. I intend to ethier learn enough to work on this truck myself or sell it. But I can't afford $5000 repair bills every time the truck stalls.
I appreciate the detailed diagnostic and mechanical procedures that all of you are shareing

My cost was about $245. I did get it from Dodge. Installed in about 3 minutes tops. I was having hard stArting problems and smoking after start up. Then I cleaned out my connectors for the map sensor and Rail pressure sensor. After that my truck would not start at all. I was lucky to have another truck at my shop and a scanner. The rail pressure on the other truck was 0psi key on engine off and went to 6000 during cranking. I put the scanner on my truck and the rail pressure was showing 9000-10000 psi key on engine off. After replacing the Sensor my truck starts easier with no smoking, also seem quieter at ide and may have slightly better fuel mileage this tankful.
