Changed from Delo to Amsoil DEO 5-40

I changed the amsoil at 10k miles and bought a new batch of 5-40 and it has 4k miles on it now and I have bluish smoke every morning for about 5-10 seconds. I am wondering about the post of CJ+4 oil being backwards compatible I was reading the other day??? I am thinking this because Amsoil's website mentions the DEO5-40 being good for emsissions equipment and DPF modules and all that crap. But the HDD 5-30 doesn't say that so I am thinking of switching and wondering if most who run lower viscosity Amsoil have good luck with the HDD 5-30???????? Anyone using the 5-30 I would appreciate comments. Oh yea I set the changing schedule at 10k. Thanks to all. Aaron

I thought the CJ+ (and even CI+) weren't good for pre-'07 emissions applications due their lack of zinc as an additive.

So the loss of zinc is what the older engines are missing with the new oil then? Well I guess it would be wise for me to switch and get the right stuff??? Aaron

I have Amsoil 5w30 in mine for the past 4,000 miles and like it a hell of a lot better then the 5w40 Rotella synthetic I tried. Also the engine runs quiter after changing to Amsoil 5w30 HDD oil. My self I would not run the CJ-4 oil longer then 7500 miles unless an UOA said its ok to run longer. JMHO

Thanks DBLR I am going to have to use that Amsoil 5-30 when I do my first oil change. Is it cheaper to go through Amsoil online or some where else? Also are you using the Heavy duty diesel 5w-30 or the regular 5w-30?

Amsoil hdd

Use the Amsoil 5W-30 HDD...not the 5W-30 for gas engines (ASL). The ASL is not diesel rated.
I've been using the AMSOIL HDD 5W-30 in my '01 since 5K miles, now have over 165K and it runs better all the time. I also have the Amsoil dual remote by-pass oil filtration system installed and do my oil changes based on oil analysis.
PM me and I will tell you how you can buy Amsoil at wholesale.
