Change out the headlight bulb!
Wow what a deal..first the after market people gave me the wrong bulbs and then I dropped one of the 3 headlight retaining bolts somewhere in the front bumper never to be seen again. No problem though, just called the Dodge parts people and all I have to do is buy the whole assembly ...! Turns out, parts won't stock the bolts, they did give me the size though. Of course i had to go to the bolt supply place and when I showed the guy the measurements the dealer gave me he said he's never seen that before! Luckily the next close thing he suggeested worked. Moral of the story "Don't drop the bolts!!" and that was my afternoon with my new truck

That Sucks 05 needs a head light! The MORON putt'in the bulb in touched it! Believe it or not I do that exact job at Warren Truck Assembly Plant (Michigan) everyday. Not touch the bulb, but put that assembly in.
No cummins are assembled at our plant just Hemi's. If you worked at the assembly plant you would NEVER BUY A RAM! Mine was made in Mexico-I like to think things are done different there

Sorry, but I have seen some thing in that factory that make me SICK. Dont get me wrong my union or my job-I'm lookin for work! Just a few quality issues. Buy what ya build means somethin to me! The lot at a DC plant should not have more Cadillac Escalades then DC produces. But this site is bout our Trucks once again sorry if I came off wrong.

I dont know if its like cant help watching a car wreck but i want to hear about this sickening moments. I actually take a little better knowing my truck was made in mexico where the workers need the job too bad to risk losing to the hundreds standing in line behind them...

Easy boys...! There wasn't anything wrong with the factory bulbs, I just went to the aftermarket cool blue bright whites. Don't forget, the winters up here are dark and long. although drivingaround last nite i noticed my visor light wason, on closer inspection I found outthat the little nib inside has been broken off sos the light has been on since I don't know when..., back to the dealership.

I had to pull the head lights out to slpice into the wires for my plow lights. I now know why there is a gap in the bumper below the headlights - for that rear bolt. I too thought I'd drop one of the rears for sure. I was using the torx bit instead of a socket and even though I banged the bolt around trying to fish it in there the bolt didn't come off the torx. If I was using a socket it would have been a long night.... I probably just got lucky.
PS: I was doing this while 4" of snow was accumulating - truck is too tall to fit in the garage - maybe the CTD gods were looking out for me....

I had to smile when I read that first post. I clearly remember the day that I put in the Silverstars. The passenger side light fixture came out and went in so very easy; but the drivers side gave me a terrific wrestling match ......
The reason I clearly remember that day is because my next door neighbors oldest son is a Catholic Bishop - he was visiting her when he overheard me "talking" to my truck in the driveway trying to coax that darn fixture out of the fender. It wasn't one of my better moments. He came over and gave me a helping hand.

just swapped to the silverstars, all four took under 20 minutes. will let ya know later how they do, first light bit of a biotch, felt like I missed a bolt but 3 is all there are just need to persuade it out of there. fogs are a dream, tool less swap btw stock lamps are in my classifieds.

I haven't changed out my bulbs yet, but thanks for the heads-up about the bolt-eating bumper. Here is a trick I learned from a surgeon in the OR. He started doing it after he spent 45 minutes fishing around in a guys leg after he dropped a plate screw!! Borrow a spool of thread from your wife and tie a piece of thread around the bolt head. That way when you drop it, just pull it back with the thread. After it is installed, either untie, cut, or break off the thread. It is not thick enough to bother anything if you leave a piece around the bolt head, and it sure makes retrieval a lot easier.

changing the bulbs in our trucks is a pain in the "you know what". i changed mine to some redline bulbs and it was (and always has been an ordeal). i had a 2001 Chevy HD and as far as i'm concerned they have the market cornered on ease of use for changing bulbs. 2 rods slide down the rear of the headlight assembly. thats it. turn the rods and pull them out. changing the bulbs is maybe a 2 min. job.
