cardboard winter front
hey fella`s, i saw on some posts that some folks are using cardboard for a winter front. is this advised? sure seems easier than buying, and installing a REAL one.
up here in the NE we just got hit with a strong storm. i was stuck in traffic behind all the NON 4WD`s , moving between 5, and 20 mph. at this point my temp guage was moving to the LEFT. Then driving around town the temp guage barely lifted its head off the 140 mark.
If i do go with cardboard, where do you put it? right in front of the MAIN raddiator?
anyway, thanks for the help

The 6" hole in the center is to allow cold air to hit the fan clutch to keep it from getting too warm and engaging the cooling fan.

Hairy1, If you put the cardboard between the radiator and the intercooler, you won't block the tranny cooler.
[/quote]If air can't get out, it won't flow in. A blockage is still a blockage, no matter where you put it.

Re:cardboard winter front
Let's see
1st. the Air Cond cooler
2nd the intercooler
3rd. tranny cooler and under it the power steering cooler
and behind all that the radiator!
Or am I wrong?

After a 2 hour trip today I never saw the tranny temp gauge move off of the low peg (140*).
My sender is plumbed directly into the Hot line coming out of the tranny.

No One wants to debate what cooler is where? HuH?

Nope...sounds good to me. In my 6spd truck I don't have a tranny cooler, so it's my A/C condenser, intercooler, followed by the radiator.
