A/C works intermittenly

I know this has been on here before but I can't seem to find it. My problem is sometimes my a/c works and sometimes it doesn't. If I play with it a while, it will start working. Initially when I turn it on, there is nothing, just regular warm air. I don't hear the compressor kick in. Then I turn it on and off a couple of ten times then I hear the compressor kick on and I have a/c. Anyone know what the problem is?? Please help.....

It could be the High/Low pressure switch, Fin temp sensor, or a bad switch. Any one of these could cause that problem. When it happens jump over the High/Low pressure switch. If A/C kicks in replace the High/Low pressure switch.

Sounds like the control head. One guy on here had a loose connection on the back of his! He had it to the dealer numerous times to no avail, and finally had it out himself for a radio install and found the problem! His would come and go. Might be worth checking though.

A/c Failure

My 03, did the same thing, Dodge has a recall/update kit for the Rams. The factory replaced my compressor, upgraded my vent motors, and some other stuff to the tune of 2k under warranty.

Well after all was said and done, I broke down and took it to the dealer. Turned out to be a bad control module for the AC. They also fixed my leaking front pinion seal. I gues life is good now. Oh, I had to beak down and buy the new and improved door seals along with it. $100 for the deductable + $60 for door seals. I guess thats not bad...

My ac works "ok" but the passenger side only blows hot air for a long time until the cab cools off, while the drivers side blows super cold air within a couple minutes. What do you think the problem is with that??

The first thing to check is the R134a charge. Have it vaccumed out and weighed to see where you stand. If it is low, pull a vaccum and see if you can find a leak.

Did they say how much the control module cost? Labor? Or would have cost had it not been under warranty. Thanks.

AZDODGE sure would like to see or read the info you described as a update/tsb/recall on the ac issue.

Before I took it to dealer, I took it to a local shop just to see if the charge was bad. They said it was good and it was probably the control module which may cost about $600.00 bones not including labor. So thats why I went to the dealer..
