buying a 2005 CTD 2500 what should I Look For??

By Wednesday I will be the owner of a 2005 CTD 2500 Quad cab Short box, The vehicle has 53,000 miles all black in color, I was wondering if any what problems should I look for. What are the specs on the truck such as HP and Tq? By the way great info on the forum, Thanks in advance for your help.

Look for the Plastic Intercooler, that is the only problem with an 05 that i am aware of. I have the plastic intercooler and i am not sure when it blows if DC will cover it... Hope this helps... Justin...

it is only plastic ends on the intercooler. look for evidence of velco strips anywhere a box or programmer might have been installed. drive the truck and make sure the Torque converter doesn't shutter when you give it go pedal after the lockup is engaged

If you are the second owner the rest of the 7/70,000 applies. Make sure they do a full service, tranny, diffs, engine oil,etc.. Make sure the tranny shifts good. You may have a stumble under light throttle,it is a 1-2-1-2 shift problem that the dealer has yet to fix on mine...It is normal.. Justin

Factory warranties cannot be denied for subsequent owners. the 3/36 bumper to bumper is expired but the CTD 100,000 mile engine and drive train is still good. There's a $100 deductible on the drivetrain part. Front wheel bearings are usually excluded but some dealers will replace them, not mine .

If you search and read some "warranty" posts, you will get a good idea of dealing with DC.

I think an '05 would be 325/610.

'04.5 began the 325/610's and the plastic intercooler ends, which were done away with later in '05.

Yes it is. You'll also have the balance of the 7/70 powertrain warranty, the last year for it.

'05 with 40,000 miles here. The only thing I have had to do to mine is have the drivers side weather seal replaced in the door. It is a fairly common problem with the '05s. 325/610. Ed B

Missed the extra 10 ft/lbs, my apologies to the hi power crowd my 03 is only 555 . And the 7/70 is in my manual for drivetrain.

My 03 has the 7/100 Cummins warranty. Did this one change?
