Re:Burned Diesel Wreak at slow speed and idling in cab.

Did my Sunday am peer under the hood and see that #6 injector line is leaking on my truck. I get a smell of raw diesel every now and again for the past month or so. Also get the exhaust smell but not as much as you Scotty.

I have to agree with the breather tube as the culprit.....that is what it smells like.....a very strong mixture of burnt oil & diesel smells. I think when we stop the fumes from the breather tube are being sucked in through the ventilation system.........man something has to be done about this! I know this is a health type issue. Anybody contacted Dodge about this problem? Maybe a recall is need to correct the problem. We should not have to switch the ventilation controls as part of stopping. If this is on all these trucks I would have to guess something will have to be done!

Stacks won't help what comes from under the hood, and I think that is where it is coming from.
I have e-mailed Cummins to see if they have been asked about this? I know they did not build the truck but for now the Dodge web site e-mail is messed up and Cummins was the only answer

I get the diesel smell in my truck as well. As soon as I turn on the air, the diesel smell comes rushing in for a second then goes away.

The problem might be that diesel trucks smell like diesel

Re:Burned Diesel Wreak at slow speed and idling in cab.

This is a burnt oil type smell......not really exhaust.....not raw fuel......and it stinks like crazy.......as said before I have driven diesel trucks for thirty years and not had this smell.

In a brand new truck you shouldn't have this. It is coming in thru the ventilation system from the engine compartment I think

If all of you complain to the NHTSA, maybe they will make DC fix this safety and health problem. Or maybe they will ignor it. ???

Only Diesel smell I have in my cab is when I roll down the windows and engage the clutch while in reverse. Whew!

Actually the wreck happens after the reek wreaks havoc.
