Bummed.. I think I got a SO

my s.o pulls great, padzz must have had one that needed the reflash. i do have the ez installed and it is even better than i can express. regardless of what d.c. says, the biggest difference between s.o and h.o is computer tuning and the s.o. upgrades better.

Fortunately, I did get the 48RE. The x-monitor comes next, then the Box. I want to get the Line-X or the Rhino, but both shops are 40 miles away, and they want the truck all day. I'll have to figure the logistics out on that one. I did get a suprise this morning, I had to back the Truck up a 45 degree wet incline, put in four low and didn't slip once! Gotta love this truck

Read this post then see what you think of an SO!http://www.ctd-resource.com/dev/show...threadid=41636

Yea, mine was the 47RE. But again, after towing with the 6spd yesterday, there is NO comparison. I can get to speed ATLEAST twice as fast.....AND HOLD IT. Something i was unable to do with the SO/AUTO

I second PaDazz, My SO was a total dog. It kept gear hunting and would not pull 14K to save its life. The 3.73 gears killed it along with the underpowered motor. I had friends making fun of my truck cause it would take forever to get to 60 MPH. I bit the bullet and went with the HO 4.10 gear setup and she pulls like an ox. I'm sure you'll be happy if you have the 48RE and add a box. I just hope when you go to tow you don't experience what Padazz and I did. Which is the worst feeling in the world when you spend 30+K on a truck. Good Luck.

My SO was a dog when I got it with 6k miles on it. Turns out fuel filter and air filter were plugged and ECU had to be flashed. Took it to the dealer and no more barks. I crossed the scales at 27k combined on one trip. That might have been off a bit though because I blew one of the 6 trailer tires off when I had to brake hard for a deer at 90 mph, Yikes. I want to bomb like everyone else, but not to drive faster but to drive slower. At 75 mph this thing tows up highway grades no problem. I'd rather have the mileage though at 60 to 65 mph. I'm currently getting around 18.5 mpg empty on winter fuel in miserable weather. Can't wait till the shift to pure #2. More mileage, more power. Keep away from the Auto diesel in summer and you'll be fine, unbombed. KS

KS (and all others who have responded),
Thanks for the input. Even though I haven't attempted to tow the 5ver, I really don't anticipate any problems. If it acts like a dog, I'll check the filters first, and if that doesn't help, I'll look into the Edge or TST.
Thanks

For the record...
I raced an 2003 SO about 6 months ago and blew it away ( with an EZ )...
And I have Dyno'ed with my EZ @
227 RWHP
So...remember that factory stated HP Ratings e.g., 250 or 275 or 305 are take at the Fly Wheel.

My 2003 SO dynoed at 190hp, 335tq. With the Edge EZ the dyno went to 270/470. Tremendous power difference in all power ranges. 0-60 went from 11 seconds to less than 8. Tows boat and carries camper with no strain now.
Have pillar-mount gauges as well, which show the EGT's to be no problem so far.
