I can't understand why they wouldn't warranty it. I would want to talk to the CEO and let him know what happened. That's crazy! They probably would have had to escort me out of there via armed officer. I have found that some (actually most) dealerships will tell people some of the most stupid stuff thinking that most people will buy it and move on. With 1300 miles on it, I would make them warranty a light bulb being out. I hope that your insurance company will take that dealership for a ride and make them lick their calf.

No new info at the moment. My insurance co. is going to have to fight it out with DC. I am going to call my adjuster on monday to tell him to see if he can get the injectors to have them tested. Thanks for all the input from evrerybody. It was just how I thought, I just couldn't believe water in fuel would cause all this damage. I was leaning more towards an injector problem myself.

they tried to tell me that it prpbably wasnt going to be under warranty

at this point after all the problems i have had the dealership has offered to buy the truck back

my advise is strat yelling

could you please post or pm me with the name of the dealer you dealt with so I can stay away from them. I am trying to find a good dealer around here.

Thanks Paul

I called my adjuster on Monday. I told him about what all of you people thought the problem was, and asked him if he could get the injectors from DC to test them. He told me the engine was probably disposed of by now but he would check into it. Why the insurance co. didn't think of doing this is beyond me. Their mechanical engineer must not be much of an engineer if he didn't think of pulling the injectors and having them tested. Go figure. You would have thought it would have been the first thing he would have done. I think they should get another mechanical engineer, one that would try to protect their intrest.
I probably won't hear from the insurance co. for a while. My adjuster told me this will probably end up in litigation in court. When everything comes to a head, I will post how everything turned out. For right now the truck is running great.

Wish I had saw this when you first posted. I don't know this for sure but I think that company doing the 5.9 Cummins/Ford conversions has some brand new crate engines. I may be wrong though. It could be they're just re-manufactured but it might've been worth checking into.

I know a guy that has a 5.9 cummins motor home and the engine went out. The dealer put in a remanufactured engine and the motorhome owner said that the warranty stated that the engine had to be a new engine. They took out the reman engine and sold it to a guy I know and the dealer put in a factory new engine. I would look into this. Does anyone else know if they can put in a reman engine in place of a new one?? Good thing to know if an engine pukes! or a tranny. With the low miles you had it should be new.

as a dc employee through detroit diesel our warr states we must ruturn the engine to the working condition prior to failure so my svc mgr puts reman parts into any thing that fails due to availibilty reasons new has to be pulled off the line at the factory and that just doesnt happen
