build up the auto or swap in a 6sp

i like the 6 sp and dont mind shifting. how big of a pain would it be to swap out the auto and put in a 6sp. i got the truck for dirt cheap thats why it has the auto in it. Or should i just build it up. i really want the manual though. i have found some kits to do it and i have found the tranny, clutch, and other items. it is the electronics i think that might get me. has anybody heard of doing this.

Easily done - just get the ECM reflashed to the manual version, or get the replacement ECM from a manual shift truck from yer local boneyard - they are the same hardware, with different programs, so it's plug'n'shift

Do you want to go fast or row gears? It's pretty simple. Build up that auto the right way and you'll only do it once.

If you decide to do a manual, there is a parts store that sells new G56s for $3200. I think that includes the bellhousing.

thanks,
i am going to build up the auto. i am thinking of cashing in my extended warranty. i got it to cover the auto mostly, so if i build it up the i wont need the war. engine is covered to 100,000. that would give me about 3000 to spend on building it up. it will go fast i know.
