Yes they are going to fix it since the truck was bought from the dealer with the lift it should all be under warranty. I just need to know if this an aftermarket drop pitman arm. If anybody can please measure the drop on their factory one and let me know what it is, the one on there now has a 4" drop

Also I noticed that the steering linkage bolts up to the underside of the drop pitman arm, is that how its installed on the 2005's?

My Son's 04.5 with a lift kit is hooked up like that. That's how they get by without putting on an aftermarket arm. I don't have access to his truck right now to get a measurement but I'll get one tonight and let you know what I find.

Aftermarket "drop" pitman arms have the taper drilled from the opposite side to try to get the drag link angle to better match the trackbar angle.

i was in the truck when it broke! we were making fun of him because we thought he couldnt parallel park then realized nothing in his steering worked. im not sure if he is going to inform everyone of this but the dealership changed owners and they lost all his paper work of the truck ever existing now they will not cover him under warranty! he called corporate and they said there was nothing they could do for him. do you smell that? i do and i think its a law suit waiting to happen. but we are all very lucky we were not on the free way when it happened.

Sorry it took so long

I had to search for the thread. This was a recall on the LKI products. Here's a link to the info I found before, hope it helps. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...0&postcount=21

His is an aftermarket arm, as said earlier, tapered from the bottom, 4" drop. My stock arm is tapered from the top and has a 2.5" drop. I'm guessing you have an aftermarket arm.

I agree you were all protected by your Guardian Angel.

As for the law suit, where you going to start???

Dodge isn't liable since it sounds like it's an aftermarket arm.

The Dealer isn't liable because again, as it sounds, it didn't fail from improper installment or it would have failed with the previous owner.

Maybe the manufacturer of the arm??

I can hear that exchange in court. "Mr ADDT2TRQUE have you or anyone else driven this truck in such a manner to exceed the design stress on the pitman arm?? "Well,,,, I uh,,,sure didn't". "Mr ADDT2TRQUE can you prove the previous owner or any other driver did not drive this truck in such a manner to exceed the design stress on the pitman arm"?? "Well no,,, I can not prove that". "Mr ADDT2TRQUE do you know the maximum stress capability of the pitman arm in question"?? "Well,,,, no I don't". "Then how can you, Mr ADDT2TRQUE, testify in this case that no one has abused this product".

Case dismissed....

powermad your jumping the gun, I know there is no way for a lawsuit. I am just now trying to find the company that installed it for the dealership so I can prove to the dealership that it was sold new with the lift so it will be covered under the dealer extended warranty.
