Brake and suspension problems on an 03
Well I just got my truck running and driving and now I am having some issues. The first is the frame side track bar bushing is bad and causing the truck to go into death wobble after any little bump. I called all around could only find one at a dealer and they want 300 bucks for it. So my question is does anyone know where I can get one used or cheap or even just a replacement bushing.
Ok next problem. This truck has been sitting for about 7 months and just recently got running again and now the brakes are goofy. There appears to be a sticky spot in the pedal at the very top. When you press on the pedal it is hard to press then all of a sudden the brakes come on and very hard. It is almost impossible to modulate pedal pressure. Also the pedal is very slow to come back up it probably takes two or three seconds for the pedal to come back and the brake lights to go off.
Thanks for any help you can offer, David

As far as the brakes are concerned, I would pull the wheels and clean all the hardware and lube the sliders a bit.
As long as everything isn't rusted to death, than this might work.
If this doesn't work, I would say you have a bad mastercyclinder from sitting too long or a sticking caliper(s) for same reason.
Also if the brake fluid has never been changed it could have a good deal of moisture in it that would cause master cyclinder and caliper problems.
If the truck is an 03 and never had major brake work done ,it is time to do it anyway...that would probably include pads, rotors, calipers and maybe a master cylinder and ,of course a break fluid change.
In fact you may want to do this befor you service the pads...because if you push your pads in to get 'em off the rotors you will probably push crap up into the ABS pump and ruin that too.
I have an 04 that I drive every day(50K miles) and just had to replace back rotors, pads and front pads.
Rear disk brakes are notorious for corrosion.
Not cheap..about 1100 bucks Canadian.
Note that front rotors were not replaced or turned and no caliper was replaced.
Now I did not do it myself so there was some labour.
Not a hard job if you are handy...I am just too old to be dealing with rusty, stuck brake parts.
Just to reiterate, the very first thing I would do is flush the brake system with fresh fluid before you start pushing old and dirty fluid back up into the system.
Don't skimp on the brakes and good luck.
BTW I am not a mechanic or brake technicion, but I did sleep at the Holiday Inn once.
