im from Humboldt saskatchewan. anyways dealer can trace both those chips u have under mods. can i ask why u need 2 chips/programmers. one is more than enough. probably why engine blew. i can blow my engine if i want on edge juice setting #1 which is mileage.(40 hp gain from stock)

they will look for anything and everything their is to look for to see if an engine has been modified. went thru this on my 07 had a bd outlook only on it and they would not fix the motor and i had to take them to court over it

The chip and downloader probably had nothing to do with my oil filter going bad and losing Oil Pressure. One chip Does Pressure and the Downloader does other stuff. They make a big improvement in milage. I have Gauges and monitor my engine Closely. Most of the Guys on here Run a Pressure Box with their Downloaders. Why do you Need a Chrome Fuel Door.

From what you were describing about what it was doing before it failed I would bet that Fram is to blame. Once they pull some stuff apart and find filter media all through the oil passages they will walk away from that one quick.
If that is the cause, make them document that the filter is what caused the failure 100% without doubt. Then get a lawyer and call Fram. Its going to be a tough one for you I think. Then again, they might just hear it knock and throw a long block in it without investigating the cause of failure.
P.S. I have 2 chips, water/meth, and nitrous..... I tried that excuse with the mileage increase to justify stuff too.

Nope it's not on the list. Neither is Amsoil or many others. Honestly, if the filter is to blame you've got a case with the filter company, but not a easy one. The thing I don't get is, why didn't you do more to inspect the no oil pressure issue when it first happened? Or get it towed to the dealer? It most likely could of been fixed and fine, if indeed it was the filter coming apart to clog something. A engine is a very pricy repair and they will do anything possible to get out of the claim. I have used fram filters on every vehicle I have ever owned except my CTD. Our old Subaru has 285,000 miles on the motor. Nothing but Fram filters every 3000 miles.

Oil filters
Although FRAM is NOT on the "approved" list, they have changed the design of the filter for the Cummins application, and it doesn't look too bad actually. The problem with their initial design (PH 3976) was that the glue they used to keep the crappy cardboard end caps on the filter media would deteriorate and float around the oiling system, eventually clogging the piston cooling nozzles. FRAM changed to the PH 3976A and went with a much better design with metal end caps on the filter media, and a metal clip to crimp the media ends together. I think FRAM filters are poor generally speaking, but this one doesn't appear as poor as some. FRAM seems to design their filters "just as good as they have to be" IMO.

Here's the Stratapore for the 5.9L Cummins:
Here's the Stratapore next to the NAPA Gold. Note the size difference in the holes that allow oil to flow through the base. The Stratapore holes are much bigger, and there's 8 of them instead of the NAPA Gold's 6 holes.
Here's the FRAM side by side with the AC Delco filter for a Duramax application. Look at how poorly constructed the FRAM is compared to the AC. The media area is smaller, the end caps are cardboard, the AC Delco one is much better built.
I use Stratapore filters on my truck.

I was 600 km from home and there is a 1.5 -2 week wait for the dealer to look at your truck here.

So where did the oil go? Was the crankcase completely empty or just below the level of the dipstick? That is the key to figuring out what happened. Not even a Fram will drink oil!
You did nothing wrong and are still under warranty, so hold their feet to the fire. Good luck.
