I just replaced all of my trucks hoses with a very nice set from Diesel Distributors:

For $130 and free shipping, these are great!
Working pressure, or constant pressure is well over 100psi. Burst pressure is over 300psi.
These are made with another full layer of silicone and weave, they are much stouter than the other guys 4 plys.

To really find out if he sucked bad air in, he should install a vacuum/boost gauge at the innercooler side, and do a reenactment of this, and let us know whether he sees vacuum or pressure right after it blows of again. I think it's really going to depend on how much boost he's still running ,and size of the leak.

vulcan upgrade will be my next mod. the stock tubo outlet is thin and probably "balloons" out under hard excelleration. hence the steel support rings
