Blown Intercooler
Pulling our travel trailer up a decent hill, the side tank separated from the aluminun center section. Was only at 30psi and 1100 EGT. When it let go it felt like i was driving a Honda. Had to get the trailer towed back to the nearest town and left my wife, 1 year old and our dog while i went with the truck 2 hours away to the nearest 5 Star dealer for repair. Thankfully the service guy was young and full of ambition because the nearest intercooler was in Michigan, 10 days away, but he convinced the owner to remove one from a truck in the yard. Back on my way in 4 hours. Thanks to Parker Motors in Penticton B.C. To bad the design of the part can't be as good as the service I received.

they have already gone back to the all aluminun intercoolers, late '05's have them. The replacement that you would have gotten would probably been the aluminum one. is the one they robbed plastic also?

exactly the same as the one yhat split. Plastic. Taking the truck to the dealer that I bought it from and get him to order an aluminum cooler if they are availible. I work on the road and i can't have that happen in some small town, hundreds of miles from a dealer

While I agree the plastic tank isn't a good thing, I think blaming Dodge is kinda stupid. They weren't meant to run 30PSI of boost. Sounds like all that have failed are running boxes, maybe Dodge was figuring on a built in fuse.
