blown head gasket?????????????

Head gasket failures through the water jacket only are pretty uncommon, since it's a low pressure system. But, water can travel a long way before you see it. It could be coming from the water pump.
Clean the block really good with hot water and a good cleaning solution. After it dries well, dust the gasket areas with baby powder or corn starch. Then run the engine for a while and look for leaks; they will show up as dark spots in the powder.
You can also buy flourescine dye kits to find leaks.
