X-10

Is this the X-10 your using/refering to? Looks like an all inclusive home control system. Cool though-

Can you give us some more details about this? I've got two 15 amp timers, one for each of the trucks with a heater, on a dedicated circut now.

If you use one of these gadgets and the temperature is below 40 all night, it will stay on all night. Better off with a timer.

Maybe a timer w/ an integrated thermostat??? So Far the X10 product line look like the way to go for me.

You can get all sorts of accessories and good prices and control lights, outlet, etc. Search Home depot site "X10"

X-10 to control block heater

2armor
here is a link to the X-10 - the system can automate your entire house, but you don't have to go that far - I just use one of the control units, and switches for some of the outside lights, and an outlet in the garage for the block heater. I bought my stuff 12 years ago, and it has worked every day since with only one problem (one of the light swhitches failed).

I just update the turn on time if the late night weather forecast shows its going to be a lot colder or warmer overnight than the previous night - very convenient to just do it from inside the house. I plug the truck in each time I park in the driveway, and just turn on the heater before I'm going to use it from the control unit - it lets you do it manually, or on the timer.

Hope this helps
Bob

I used to have some of their wireless camera stuff, it didn't work as good as their remote switches and automation stuff I have had from them.

Can't remember the manufacturer, but I believe its rated at 15A and weatherproofed for external use.

Getting me to remember to unplug it from the truck is sometimes problemmatic.....
That's where I bought mine still working going on 2 years now
