Block Heater

Block Heater
My buddy has a 2004 2500 four door and he says there is no block heater on his truck. Is it hidden somewhere or is it an option that he just doesnt have? Thanks in advance.

He should have the block heater, but probably not the cord unless he ordered it as an option. Tell him to look under the exhaust manifold about halfway back on the block - if there is a black plastic cap there, unscrew it and there is the connection for the cord to plug in. As far as I know (sometimes ain't too far!), all 04s have the heater already in the block - of course, that's an absolute, and supposedly there's no such thing...

In DC's penny pinching efforts they decided not to make a $15 block heater cord standard equipment like on the 1st and 2nd gens.
If you can get to a cummins dealer you can get the cord for much cheaper.

Actually you can go to a local NAPA if you have one in your surrounding area and get one also. I priced one for my 05 for $18.00 sorry i dont have the part # you need for your 03 I dont know if the #s cross reference or not.
