Block heater

According to DC, all the '06 model Cummins have the block heaters installed from Cummins but the pig tail to allow hook up is not present unless it was ordered with the truck from the factory.

My '06 didn't come with the block heater spec'ed out on the invoice so I don't have the pig tail.

I've been trying to find the heater on the motor and have not been able to spot it as yet. Are they indeed there on all '06 CTD motors? If so, can I just get the pig tail and hook it up for use in cold weather?

Buy the cord from Cummins for less than $20.
There is a plastic cap to remove before installing the cord. On my 05 the heater is on the passenger side between the oil filter and the turbo

I just installed my blocke heater cord this weekend, the connection is just behind the oil filter and is covered by a plastic cap. Also you will most likely have to crawl under the vehicle to find the holes to mount it correctly, and the last hole is hard to find but it's there just to the side of the front right tow hook. My cord also cost me $40 from the local Dodge Dealer.

On my 04 it was passenger side of the block, rear side of the oil filter - easiest to find from under the truck. It's capped, unscrew the cap to expose the connector. The cord screws back on where the cap was to retain it. On my truck you can also identify it by the stains from the slow leak of coolant...

Thanks guys!
I was looking for it on the top side of the block.
I'll check around to source the best price for the cord and post what I find.
