Black Box

I've been getting annoyed by a sticky fuel pedal. With such good throttle response as my truck has I try to feather the throttle and it doesn't feather, just goes about 2 to 3 times further than I wanted so my truck snaps. (I think I have remedied that with some WD-40). While I was feeling around for how it connects I found the cable that (is what's jamming) controls everything. So I thought I would track it outside to see where it's going and see if I can help it out there. I track the line (I'm assuming it was the right one) to a black box under the left battery box. Is that where the throttle controls are? Also, can I adjust the cable on the fuel pedal and change my idle?

Yeap, that is where your TPS is. That is what the cable hooks up to.

If you play around with the throttle line you will change the voltage being sensed by your TPS. It can cause all kinds of funky issues. I would leave the setting alone unless you have the procedure to setup the TPS as if you replaced it. Sounds like you have a binding throttle cable. You would have to R&R and resetup the TPS. You need it to be correct when you first turn the key on to crank it. That gives the ECM a baseline to go by.

You could setup a manual throttle on it for a manual high idle like a tractor or old manual choke.

You mean like start it and then put a spacer between the nut and the pedal linkage?

... or start it and place the appropriately-sized stick between the skinny pedal and the seat.

You should already have a cold-weather high idle on your truck, though.

I want to pull away with higher rpms so I don't have to feel like a gasser by revving to move away so I don't lurch forward and feel like all forward momentum ends. And to stop hearing the single mass flywheel.
