It is all a custom job and many have made heat shields themselves. I think if you do a search in the 2nd gen perf forums you will find specs of what guys have made. Some of them look quite professional.....

ARA, I have one on mine. You have to pull the stock airbox out to make it fit. It's pretty easy to do. If you choose to reuse the stock rubber elbows it is a very, very tight fit over the inlet to the filter. Check my gallery for a couple of pics...

You aint kidding its a tight fit lol I just did mine...however the sensor I installed a little different I cut a small cross in the rubber elbow and pushed the sensor threw, the rubber sealed itself around the sensor and then I zip tied sensor to the hose seems to work ok.......

Hey Dodgezilla...how did you get the air temp sensor installed? Did you just drill three holes into the outlet of the BHAF and then mount it directly to that?? I'm trying to figure out to make a BHAF work with my homemade torque tube?
Do you know if a piece of 4" aluminum intake tubing will slide inside of the BHAF filter, or does it have to be the hose sliding over the outside??

Hoss, I drilled three holes in the filter inlet to mount the sensor but since the screws were just going into rubber, I decided to use the tie wraps just to make sure it wouldn't come loose. It has held up very well. I got my intake piping from AirFlow online. It was longer than I needed so I cut a 4" piece off of it and stuck it inside to filter inlet so it wouldn't collapse when I clamped down on it. I also had to use part of my stock rubber boot to connect the elbow to the filter because they were the same exact diameter. I slid the piece of tubing inside the filter but left it sticking out enough for the rubber boot to be able to connect to it. It too has worked well. I even went back since and cut all the walls off my airbox and put the floor back in to act as a water shield for the filter. It rubs the hood a little but it's not too bad. My Outerwears cover had to be replaced already though. Both elastic ends had lost their elasticity and the cover was sliding off the filter. My new one is black.....

That pretty much answers my questions. Thanks.
Right now I have the same homemade torque tube that you do. My thought was that I'd get a piece of 4" intake tubing with a 45 degree bend in it (maybe less...the angle I'm not sure about). I'd stick one end in the 90 degree rubber elbow that I already have as part of my torque tube and the other end into the BHAF outlet. I just wasn't sure if the tubing would actually slide into the BHAF, but from what you're saying it sounds like it will. I could then clamp it down real good and I thought I'd find some way to mount the air temp sensor to the tubing with the bend in it.
Think that would work?

Dodgezilla, do you think it would be possible to drill a hole in the end of the BHAF to install the Filter Minder in??

The way the filter has to sit in that tight hole I would say no because it's a tight fit to where I have to push it to get it in all the way. I'm sure you could make a way for the sensor to connect to the pipe instead of the filter. That's probably what I will do once I have to change my filter. That way I don't have to drill holes in the filter everytime I change it. I think every company sell the same exact filter which is just a rebadged WIX model. Mine's a WIX..

if ya look in my gallery Hoss you will see where I driled for my minder......... honestly I drilled for the intake air temp sensor in the end there and the wires too short so I had to put something in there to plug the hole, voilla filter minder
