Best fuel economy ever.....25mpg

I must have a dud too, this whole thing drives me nuts!!!!! I was hoping for that kinda mileage and better towing my 9000lb (loaded) travel trailer than I get. You may ahve seen some of my other posts. I have removed my muffler, just the cat now, and added a high flow filter.
I never see more than 400 miles to a tank like 410 is my best. I have hand calculated every gallon and mile in a spreadsheet. I will say that I live only two to three miles to work so I am sure that hurts my daily mileage never getting warmed up, but even on unloaded trips I can not see more that 400 miles to a tank. With the trailer on I see 300-330 and only 350-400 mixed highway/city unloaded. I am jealus!!!!!!!
This is my first diesel and dodge, and I am very happy compared to the 9-10 unlaoded and 5mpg loaded I was getting. I just want your mileage, sometimes I think you are all conspiring to keep me awake at night.

Last winter I did 2400 miles Wyoming to southern Arizona and back. 70 on interstate and 65 otherwise. All kinds of driving conditions and a total of one hour in three different traffic jams in Las Vegas. My hand calculated total was 20.4. The overhead average was .4 under that.
My current tank after 400+ miles--120 miles highway, the rest to and from town two miles, and four 20 mile round trips pulling my atv to the bottom of the mountain to hunt elk--is reading 20.4 on the overhead. I have to admit I am a cheapskate, and my driving habits are geared toward going slow and fuel economy.

Hey MikeyB,
With that kind of mileage.....You need to come on up to North Texas for part of next weekend!!! Wouldn't even cost you a tank of fuel to come up, have lunch and BS with us at CrobTex's place.....then you could go back to Conroe on Sunday!! Just think, only a tank of fuel and the price of a steak at TX Roadhouse!! I will supply your beer for ya!
We are meeting Noon Saturday in McKinney. Cmon up!

I'm with socal then! I must have a dud too, cuz I can't get better than 12 miles to the gallon. That is hand calculated, miles travled devided by fuel consumed. The overhead trip meter is a joke.
By the way, who the Hell can drive 55 to 58 mph?

MikeyB has one of the best combinations in a 3rd Gen for good mileage. 305/555/2WD/3.73/NV5600. You just will never see that mileage in a 05 or 06 especially with 4.10 gears or oversized tires. I can get 22-23 MPG at 65 MPH and I'm happy with that (all stock).

Most I ever put on my truck was 450, and that was towing hard. I don't really go long enough to run 600 miles empty (unless I visit my sister in erie) but most of the time when not trailering, I go up in the woods, cabin, or in the extream cold (winter) so I normally don't go less than half a tank (in case I get snowed in, or this or that) Most I did was 19.5 and that was loaded up to go elk hunting up in Maine, Canada. So with around 1,000lbs of gear that's what i got. Still have no idea with winter fuel, but again, roads were snowy and we only ran like 50mph, so in 4th gear that was like 1400 rpms for me, so it ran good winter front also. I haven't gotten over 20 yet
I also like keeping fuel so that the pump runs good, AND with the aftermarket pumps the pickups will start sucking air when you slosh the tank around and mine is anything less than half. Guess the bad part of an aftermarket pump is that you can't run under 1/4 tank of fuel. Good part is I have a lot more power to mess with, with no worries of fuel issues.

Most on one tank is 830.9. Average in the mid to high 700's. That is on 33-35 gallons. I have the log book and the fuel receipts to prove it. Most on 1/2 tank is 560. Now if my fuel gauge were just a little more linear.......I want to hit 900 miles on one tank, at least once.

man i think maine really sucks now!!!! i get 17 at best going from ohio to wv. all but 20 miles all interstate with c/c on 68 the only slow down is in columbuscan be stop and go or blow thru . pulling 9000 lbs trailer i get 10 mpg! the trucks stock with 410 . i know the 410s hurt but man.
