Beginnings of Tranny issues--Ideas welcome
#17
When shifting into 4low reverse only, it feels like something is shuddering/slipping. I do not remeber it shuddering/slipping or whatever when I first test drove the truck and locked it in. The last time I put the truck in 4wd was about 2 weeks ago and had a rediculous amount of wheel hop trying to get out of the sand late one night. I realize how 4wd works and the shudder effect happens on concrete, asphalt, grass, sand, etc... in straight shots when first shifting into reverse.
I think whatever underlining problem is there whether it is solenoid, bands, reflash, line pressure, valve body adjustments, needing shift kit, something being loose, or axle binding; its amplified when combining the torque of not just 4low, but the even low gearing of reverse therefore giving the distinctive shudder issue. It would probably show up on a video when filming the selector being cycled through.
Thanks for all the feedback, I'll probably just have bands adjusted, latest reflash, and just go from there eliminating issues since these issues do not have an exact fix. Thanks again for all the ideas/possible fixes.

See if you get the same type of action in manual 1st when you really get after it. I suspect its either the band is out of adjustment or the servo is jamme din the bore an it won't apply correctly.
If its a servo issue you SHOULD see some problems with manual 1st as that is rear band apply also. Try and see whats up. If its has a problem the the trans will need to come out and apart to fix it before it really tears things up.
Sorry, I am just full of bad news.

Worst news is that the truck has stock everything and I bought it about 1 month ago, haven't even made the first payment I am rolling in at about 44300 and bought it with 41500. I have had a problem getting the 1st gear selectory switch to show up on the console, but I felt like it was in 1st. The selector did finally drop into first. I'm actually going to check it out now, maybe its not what your telling me.

Well, no problems with using the manual 1st with the automatic. Who knows, tired worrying about it. I'll go first of the week to the dealer, got to much to do this last half of the week. Thanks again guys.
