Which BDTD tune? Old 2.4D Crazy Larry or newest?

Since I don't really use the Crazy Larry setting anyway...I'm wondering if there is an advantage of going to the most recent Bully Dog Tune on my Triple Dog. Are there programming benefits that were made along the way?

I was running CL and got sort of self-conscious about all the black smoke I was putting out, even when I didn't want to. I went to the BD site and updated with their latest and greatest, but when I installed it in my truck I kept getting the error message "Vehicle not recognized" and it wouldn't install. So I suppose BD stopped supporting earlier trucks (mine is an '05), or maybe just the current versions aren't compatible with earlier trucks. I had saved v2.4.3, which was the one BD recommended to me when they helped me update my BDTD in about May this year, so I reinstalled that and am happy with it.

The one thing I didn't get with v2.4.3 is the ability to adjust my speedo/odo for tire size. My Outlook Monitor is supposed to be able to adjust for tire size, but I have tried several settings and see no difference, so I'm thinking it's not supported with this version, or maybe my Outlook needs to be serviced.

With v.2.4.3, I notice a drop on hp from CL, and didn't get any gain in mpg over CL, but I am happy with the power and get less smoke in everyday driving.

By the way, I have tested fuel mileage under various conditions on all the power settings with CL and with v2.4.3. I get no appreciable difference in mileage with any settings, including "No extra power", so I keep mine set on the "Extreme" setting all the time and just be judicious with my foot.

Thanks for the help. I don't get much smoke unless I stand on it on performance or CL...and of course I don't do that from a stop really for fear my trans ending up on the ground at the light.

I have v2.4.3 if you want it. I'm sure BD can install it for you as well. PM me if you want and I'll email it to you.

I've got
2.27t,
2.4.1,
2.4.3
2.4CT
2.4D (crazy larry)
and "pedifile larry".

I have no idea what's best for me though. I've been running 2.4D. It runs pretty good on that. I've never been able to find out how they all differ.

BD will not update them to anything other then the latest from my understanding talking to the before. They direct you to the updater software.

2.4D is what I was running. I have an NV5600 manual, so tranny is not an issue. I have caused the clutch to slip a time or two, though. That's one reason I went back to v2.4.3.
