Question B5 Bio Diesel questions

I have seen a place here in oceanside that is selling bio diesel on the cheap about 20 cents cheaper than #2. It is B5 Bio Diesel and I was wondering what would I have to do to be able to run it in my 04? I don't have any serious mods to my truc and am planning on going back to CO in a week. I want to fill up with the B5 blend and was wondering if I have to mix it with normal diesel and if I use Power Service's Diesel Kleen + Cetane Boost would I run into problems?

Carry an additional fuel filter just in case the B5 blend cleans out your engine. Otherwise......run it and don't look back. Cummins has approved up tp B20........some run B100.........it will run the Bio.

I've been running the B5 in my truck on occasion (when it's been competitively priced) and have never had an issue. Also, having read the attached report on the lubricity of base ULSD, B2 bio diesel and numerous over the counter additives, I like the bio diesel even more.

I prefer B5 for my truck when I can find it. Just seems to run better and idle smoother. Had no problems with B20 either, but it's even harder to find.

I have run varying ratios of Bio in my truck. Usually B20 but as high as B99 a few times. No worries as long as it conforms to the Bio spec, which I can't recall just now. But if it is a commercial fuel station, you should be fine. Oh, and I would skip the additives while running the bio, they are not needed.

Bowser, I sent you a PM. Not to hijack, but am I safe to run B20 in both the 12 valve and the Common Rail?

I ran bio in my 96 12 valve with no problems and also run it in my 03. In the older trucks there is a greater chance of filter clogging for when it cleans out your system so you should defiinetly carry a spare filter. After a couple of filter changes it should be good to go to routine intervals for filter change.
