Axle Assembly and Rear End - Finding the right fit
I am going to purchasing a whole new rear end/axle assembly for the truck - basically from tire to tire, yeeeaah it's a long story. I am going to be purchasing off ebay from a wrecked truck. My question is are there certain years that will not fit? For example my truck is the 2004.5 3500 long bed 4dr with 3.73 anti-slip locking 11.5. Would something from on 07 be compatible? Or if anyone has purchased one or could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated...

I would imagine that they are the same assuming you check the gear ratio for the match. I have always wanted to go back to a Dana80 SG for mine but they are not compatible with the 2nd generations

Well I found a whole rear axle assembly on Ebay out of a 2006 w/ 80k miles $325 ... sweet price
Having the truck shipped from Alabama to Ohio compliments of New World Auto Transport (Steve Wells) -- These guys are the best if you need anything transported. They somehow managed to get my truck loaded with a broken axle.
New rear axle assembly goes in this week.
