Auto transmission fails to up-shift, dealer no fix....

My 03 2500 stills fails to upshift on occasion, I can take her all the way up to 3500 rpm and it never shifts. Generates a P-0700 error code and the dealer said he read a code of P-1763.

Last week the Dodge dealer did change out the governor pressure sensor and solonoid, also changed out fluid and filter for the problem.

It's an 03 with 87,000 miles and the error code is still P-0700 same as before.

I went back almost a year and read every post on this upshifting issue and only came up with the governor pressure and sensor solonoid issue and the chaffing problem with the ground strap by the oil filter. I checked and it seemed OK.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Thanks

Ron

This may be a stretch but on my '98 I had a problem with only 1st and reverse working that the dealer couldn't resolve. I ultimately traced it to a bad connection where the speed sensor wire plugged into the PCM connector. Since it is intermittent, I'd look for a weak or partly shorted connection somewhere.

That my not be a stretch, I live near the ocean and the bottom of the truck is always wet with dew and there are spots of rust all over the engine and drive components.

I'll have the dealer go over the connections.....

Hey Ron,

Did you get your truck figured out?

I did a little checking on those codes. Looks like:

P0700 - Transmission Control System TCS Malfunction
P1763 - Governor Pressure Sensor Voltage High

Now, after reading your description; it sounds almost identical to what mine was doing a few months ago. It ended up being the TTVA, or Transmission Throttle Voltage Actuator. This little booger was sent to us built with plastic gears, and has a tendency to shred those little gears after 100k miles. It gave me all kinds of error codes. The part cost me a little over 400 bucks from the Dodge house.

I'm not sure if your year model is built with one of these or not, but it might be something to look into. You can read more about the problems it caused on my forum post, here:

Hope this works!

He has an 03' so he won't have a Throttle valve actuator. He has a TV cable. He could have an issue with the TV cable. That is what I would check next.
